Protesters clash with LAPD during Breonna Taylor rally in Hollywood

Protesters commemorating the death of Breonna Taylor clashed with police officers in Hollywood on Saturday – with a wild video showing a police vessel driving with someone clinging to the hood.

At least 200 people traveled to Hollywood and Vine late Saturday to ask for justice for Taylor, who was fatally shot by police in her Louisville, Kentucky, a year ago, KABC said.

At one point, a group of protesters dressed in black – some wearing umbrellas while smoke filled the air around them – filmed and blocked a line of at least six LAPD cars to get through.

After one protester blocked the road from the front car, another hit the hood – with both on the hood video shot by Sean Carmitchel shows.

The car then drove away, and one of the protesters managed to jump off, but the other one remained behind on the hood as the cop car drove by, chased by a group of screaming spectators.

“Holy s – t!” someone was heard shouting, along with repeated cries of: “Medic! Medic! Medic! Medic! ”

Carmitchel later said that the protester was on the car not seriously injured. The operations center of the Los Angeles Police Department told KABC it has few details about the incident.

It came during a night of tense distances with police in riot gear, the station said.

Images also showed graffiti scratched around the area, including ‘the pigs’ and ‘f – k 12’, a general anti-police message used during protests.

Taylor’s front door was broken by Louisville officers as part of a drug attack in the early hours of March 13, 2020. Her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, once fired his gun and later said he feared an intruder would enter the apartment. .

One officer was hit, and he and two other officers fired 32 shots into the apartment, hitting Taylor five times.

A grand jury charged one officer in September with an illegal threat for shooting at a neighbor’s apartment.

A Kentucky judge signed an order last week to permanently close a criminal case against Walker for firing on the officer.

Walker filed a federal lawsuit against the Louisville Metro Police Department on Friday, alleging that his constitutional rights were violated during the raid.
