Pro-Trump lawyer calls Mike Pence a ‘Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing’ focused on 2024 only

Attorney Lin Wood, who helped President Donald Trump’s legal team file lawsuits challenging the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, told Parler on Wednesday that he did not trust Vice President Mike Pence.

As part of his duties as president of the Senate, Pence is expected to chair the congressional certification of election votes in January. Elected President Joe Biden won the Electoral College in the November election and is expected to be confirmed as the next president.

Trump has urged GOP legislators to contest the vote in order to block the election results. Some Republicans have put Pence under pressure to reject election votes in countries where voting fraud has allegedly taken place. Wood expressed his distrust of Pence in a message that the Twitter feed Parlertakes posted with the caption: “Lin Wood continues his attack on everyone in the world.”

“Hard way to start day, but TRUTH is TRUTH,” Wood posted. “I do NOT trust VP Mike Pence. He’s wolf in sheep’s clothing. Pence is only focused on himself & 2024. He does not support President Trump. Let Pence hear your voices and read your words. If he does not support Trump, “His career is over. Warn him.”

Wood has served as legal counsel in several high-profile cases, representing clients such as teenage Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse and Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who were charged in October with unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with evidence. The McCloskeys gained some notoriety after wielding weapons during a Black Lives Matter demonstration in their area threatening to enter their property.

Newsweek reached out to Pence’s office for comment.

Trump has unjustifiably claimed that the fraud of the voters committed by Democrats enabled Biden to win the election. Trump’s legal team has filed numerous lawsuits over election manipulation, but the majority of lawsuits have been dismissed. With the day of the inauguration approaching, Trump has not yet conceded the election to Biden.

Since all 50 states have certified their election votes, Pence’s authority to reverse the results is minimal. However, Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert on Monday filed a lawsuit against Pence to prevent Pence from declaring Biden the winner of Electoral College.

Gohmert’s lawsuit alleges that Pence ‘has sole authority and sole discretion to open and permit the election of votes for a particular state’. According to the lawsuit, Pence’s statement of Biden as the next president would be ‘unconstitutional’.

‘Five states send two sets of voters and [Pence] Gohmert said in a Wednesday interview with KLTV. “That’s what we’re looking for, a statement that he can do exactly that.”

According to the lawsuit, Gohmert’s lawyers tried to resolve the underlying legal issues in agreement with Pence before the lawsuit was filed. These attempts were ‘unsuccessful’.
