Lin Wood, a lawyer fighting for President Donald Trump’s victory in the 2020 election, sounded the alarm after asking Vice President Mike Pence to be at the top of the list of arrests for treason.
Wood, who believes Trump won the election, shifted his focus from Democrats to Republicans and demanded that Pence resign and get an execution by a firing squad in a tweet Friday. After being arrested, Wood suggested the vice president would sign ‘like a bird’ and admit that he was a ‘main contender’ in the ‘election theft’.
The controversial Atlanta attorney’s comments prompted people to respond to the FBI and the Secret Service in tweets, saying Wood’s tweets were a threat to the vice president.
@FBI The threat of the President or the VP is a federal offense under US Code Title 18, Article 871. It consists of knowingly and intentionally abducting the President or VP of the United States. or to cause bodily harm. State “.

@FBI @SecretService I would like to report a death threat. Trump’s attorney MR. Wood is asking for the assassination of a sitting vice president. I may not agree with that @VP as a person, but I respect the seat. If someone else had made this threat, action would have been taken.

Under Title 18 of U.S. law, the Vice President can be threatened with a fine, a maximum of five years in prison, or both, for murdering the Vice President, kidnapping, or causing bodily harm.
On Wednesday, Pence will preside over the certification of the results of the election college, as well as the role of the vice president. Some Trump supporters are hoping that Pence will refuse to run for president-elect Joe Biden in key swing states, blocking his rise to the presidency.
Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert has filed a lawsuit against Pence, claiming that the vice president only decides at his discretion to determine which voters are counted. Judge Jeremy Kernodle dismissed the case on Friday, saying the plaintiffs did not have the grounds to file it.

Republicans plan to object to the number of votes cast – a move that has little or no chance of succeeding – and Pence is being put under pressure to refuse to confirm the results. If the vice president does not want to agree to reject the voters of “states where fraud has taken place”, Wood said he should “resign immediately”.
“A man of God will never confirm a lie,” Wood posted on Twitter Friday. “Every lie will be revealed. Every lie means every lie. Always has. Always.”
Wood’s legal battle is independent of the ongoing battle of the president’s own legal team. Jenna Ellis, one of the president’s attorneys, distanced herself from the Atlanta attorney. Ellis posted on Twitter on Friday that she does not support Wood’s rulings, but that she supports the “rule of law and the US Constitution”.
“For conservatives, the solution is never to ignore the Constitution and the rule of law just because the other side is it. The solution is to keep fighting to apply it properly,” she said on Twitter the next morning. writing. “The principle of limited government is at the heart of freedom.”
Wood referred to people who called him “insane” and officials for his arrest as an “agenda” and implied that they might have something to hide or that the truth should remain hidden.
Newsweek reached out to the offices of Wood and Pence for comment.
