Princess Eugenie attends Prince Philip’s funeral after giving birth

Princess Eugenie has retired for the first time since his birth to attend Prince Philip’s funeral.

The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson attended the ceremony on Saturday with husband Jack Brooksbank. The couple welcomed their son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, on February 9th.

The royal family, including reunited brothers Prince William and Prince Harry, gathered at Windsor Castle to say their final farewells to the Duke of Edinburgh, who died on 9 April at the age of 99.

The scaled-down, COVID-safe ceremony included only 30 royals – not even Prince Philip and great-grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II attended.

Eugenie, 30, gave birth to Brooksbank, 35, at Portland Hospital in London.

A few weeks later, she announced her name of her newborn, which includes a sweet nod to her deceased grandfather.

In the photos accompanying the name news, the couple holding August were worn with a blue hat and wrapped in a matching blanket.

In her caption, Eugenie also reveals that Augustus was born to a midwife, who took the photos of the new family.

“Thank you to the wonderful essential workers, including our midwife, who came to dismiss our son,” Eugenie wrote.

Eugenie, who is tenth in line to the British throne behind older sister Beatrice, 32, married Brooksbank in Windsor Castle in 2018, the same year and the same place Prince Harry and Meghan Markle untied the knot. The couple apparently moved out of the house of the Sussexes’ Frogmore Cottage in December.
