Prince William paid tribute to his late grandfather, Prince Philip, in a moving statement posted on social media on Monday.
The Duke of Edinburgh died on Friday at the age of 99 and his grandson reflected on the spouse’s commitment to family and service.
“My grandfather’s century of life was determined by service – to his country and Commonwealth, to his wife and queen, and to our family,” the statement began.
William continues: ‘I feel happy that I not only had his example to lead me, but also his lasting presence into my own adult life – through good times and in the most difficult days. I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her. I will never take the special memories as my children for granted as their great-grandfather who comes to fetch them in his carriage and sees for himself his infectious sense of adventure. as well as his mischievous sense of humor! “

On Sunday, Princess Anne, the only daughter of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, also reflected on the passing of her father.

In a statement shared on the Royal Account’s Instagram account, the 70-year-old wrote: “You know it’s going to happen, but you’re never really ready.
“My father was my teacher, my supporter and critic, but mostly it’s his example of a life lived well and served freely, as I wanted to emulate most,” she continued.
“I want to emphasize how valuable the family values the messages and memories of so many people whose lives he has also touched,” she wrote. “We will miss him, but he leaves a legacy that can inspire us all,” Anne concluded.

Queen Elizabeth, 94, is currently in a mourning period for eight days and will not perform any royal duties.
On Sunday, Anne’s older brother, Prince Andrew, also spoke about the death of their father.
“It’s a great loss. We almost lost the grandfather of the country. And I feel very sorry and support my mother, who probably feels it more than anyone,” he said at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor Castle .
Andrew added that the Queen described Philip’s death as leaving a huge void in her life, but we, the family, those closer, are pulling together to make sure we are there to support her. ‘

Prince Charles, the eldest son of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth and the next heir, made a video statement on Saturday.
“I especially wanted to say that my father, because I suppose for the past 70 years, has rendered the most remarkable, dedicated service to The Queen, to my family and to the country, but also to the entire Commonwealth,” the Prince of Wales ( 72) said.
