Prince William and Kate postcards to ‘Granny Diana’ on Mother’s Day in the UK a week after the conversation between Harry and Meghan

Prince William and his wife, Catherine, posted on Instagram cards on Sunday that their three children made for ‘Granny Diana’, aka William and Harry’s mother, to celebrate British Mother’s Day. The placement comes amid falling out with William’s brother, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan, who explained the break between the brothers in a bomb interview with Oprah Winfrey.

For Mother’s Day on Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted on the official Kensington Royal Instagram account that “today can be particularly challenging for those who experience remorse.” William and Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, died in a car accident in Paris in 1997 when William was 15 and Harry 12.

“Every year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make tickets to remember their grandmother, Diana, for William,” the caption said.

“Dear Grandma Diana, I think of you on Mother’s Day,” wrote Princess Charlotte, 5. ‘I love you very much. Papa misses you. Much love, Charlotte. ‘

Prince George (7) wrote “Happy Happy Mother’s Day. I love you very much and always think of you.”

Prince Louis, who is almost 3, has created a heart.

William and Catherine also posted a photo of a cake they said was made by the children celebrating “two other special mothers today” and a photo of Catherine as a child and her mother.

The messages come one week later Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, told Oprah about rifts between them and members of the royal family, including William and Catherine. Meghan refuted a 2019 story that she made Catherine cry before Meghan and Harry’s wedding and said Catherine made her cry.

In excerpts broadcast on “CBS This Morning”, Meghan said the royal family never acknowledged that there was a difference in the way she was treated – including racist attacks and the setting up of social media – and the way on which Catherine was treated.

“Kate is called ‘Waity Katie’ and waiting to marry William while I think it was really hard. I can not imagine how it feels. It’s not the same,” Meghan said.

She continues: “And if a family member would comfortably say that we should all deal with things that are rude, rude and racist, it is not the same.”

Meghan also said that there was a discussion within the royal family about ‘how dark’ their son Archie’s skin color would be, a conversation that Harry said he never wanted to discuss. A few days after the interview, William was asked that the family “is very much not a racist family.”

Harry said his father, Prince Charles, at one point “did not take my calls” when he asked for more security for him and Meghan. He said that ‘history repeats itself’ in the way Meghan was treated compared to the way his mother was treated by his family.

Harry said he and William were ‘through hell together’, but they are now on ‘different paths’.
