Prince Philip undergoes a heart disease procedure

“The Duke of Edinburgh underwent a successful procedure for an existing heart condition at St Bartholomew’s Hospital yesterday,” the statement said. “His Royal Highness will remain in hospital for a number of days for treatment, rest and recovery.”

Monday he went to the St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, also in London, transferred for continued treatment of the infection and according to what the palace would test and observe for an existing heart condition.
St. Bartholomew’s specializes in cardiac care, according to the hospital’s website, which calls it ‘Europe’s largest specialist cardiovascular service’.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, said on Wednesday that Philip’s condition “improved slightly” after his transfer, despite the fact that his treatment “hurt in an instant”, according to PA Media.

“We’m holding thumbs up,” Camilla added according to PA about her father-in-law.

Both Philip and the Queen received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

They spent most of the past year in Windsor Castle, after moving away from Buckingham Palace during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020.

The prince retired from public life in 2017 and has been taken to hospital several times over the past few years. In December 2019, he received hospital treatment for an existing condition.
