Prince Philip moved to King Edward VII Hospital after heart procedure

The move is the second in less than a week for the Duke of Edinburgh, the 99-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II.

He went to the St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, also in London, transferred for continued treatment of an infection and according to what the palace would test and observe for an existing heart condition. The palace said on Thursday that he had undergone a heart procedure there.

“Following the successful procedure of the Duke of Edinburgh in St Bartholomew Hospital, his Royal Highness was transferred to King Edward VII Hospital this morning,” the statement said on Friday.

“The duke is expected to remain in hospital for a number of days for continued treatment.”

Philip was first admitted to King Edward VII Hospital on February 16 “after feeling unwell.” The palace later confirmed that he was being treated for an infection.
