Prince Harry ‘sad’ over the split of the royal family, friend says: ‘Very hurt feelings’

It has been almost a year since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked many, including their loved ones, by announcing that they will be retiring as senior members of the British Royal Family.

They have since moved from the UK to a home in Santa Barbara, California, with their son Archie, who turns 2 in May.

ITV anchor Tom Bradby, known for his documentary on Harry and Meghan’s South Africa tour, and a friend of the couple, begin in more detail about the royal split. Despite the fact that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex today seem more ‘content’ than they were two years ago, Bradby claims that the couple’s departure took a toll on all royal family members, including Harry.

“I think they feel better, yes,” Bradby said via People, “Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh.” “So are they unhappy? No, I think they are satisfied. The things they are doing are very excited about them.”

However, Bradby noted that he believes Harry ‘is sad about the situation with his family’, adding: ‘you do not necessarily have to have knowledge to know this, but I think it’s true.’

Bradby has confirmed rumors of a rift between Harry and the rest of his family – but maintains that this does not mean he is not happy with his wife and son in the US.

‘The situation with the family is clearly not ideal, and it has been a very difficult year for everyone. But are they unhappy out there? No, I do not think it’s right, I think they are actually quite happy, but I think they are struggling with their position in life, I think they all do. I think [Prince] William does that too. “I do not think he finds it easy,” Bradby added, according to the report.

Bradby’s interview with Titchmarsh is expected to air Sunday. The journalist further says that it was an “incredibly painful” year for the royals, given Meghan and Harry’s move.

‘It’s painful for everyone, painful for everyone, difficult to manage. Effectively, they just decided to leave the royal family altogether. This has never been done before – I mean, you could have gone back to the Duke of Windsor, but it was in very different circumstances. This has never been done voluntarily before, and no one still knows how it will work. ‘

Harry’s friend concluded that the situation was not entirely smooth.

“There are still a lot of hurt feelings on all sides, and it’s very difficult. … I think the public really wants things to go well and everyone to be happy, and it’s clearly not the past year “It’s not a very easy or comfortable situation. I do not think it would be an easy or comfortable situation.”

The royal family’s expert and Vanity Fair correspondent Katie Nicholl, meanwhile, told “Entertainment Tonight” that the relationship between the royal brothers and sisters became stronger during the holidays.

“There were phone and video calls during the Christmas and New Year holidays, and the Sussexes sent gifts to the Cambridges and vice versa,” Nicholl said. “It was an opportunity in an otherwise very busy and chaotic year for both families to get together and make contact, albeit virtually.”

One source recently claimed that Prince William and Prince Harry had been getting closer in recent weeks after the holiday season. William, his wife Kate Middleton and their three children live in the UK while Harry moved to California with Meghan and their son, Archie.

In his upcoming interview, Bradby says it’s important to remember that the British royals are not just a family, in a way a ‘firm’.

“They are engaged in public service on a very elevated, exposed platform and to some extent they are all locked up in it. And it creates a lot of tension that people may see from the outside relatively clearly, but at the same time when they are trying to be a family, I’m always aware of that and how complicated and honest it is difficult, ‘he said.
