Prince Harry arrived in the UK on Sunday in preparation for his grandfather’s funeral next week. Prince Philip passed away on Friday morning at the age of 99, and Harry is expected to attend the ceremony on April 17 after completing a five-day quarantine period at Frogmore House in Windsor.

Harry has not been back to the UK since March 2020, when he and Meghan Markle completed their duties as senior royals at the Commonwealth Service. The relationship between Harry and his family was reportedly particularly icy after the interview he and Meghan had with Oprah, in which the couple recalled certain members’ worrying about how dark [Archie’s] skin would be ”before he was born. After the launch of the special, Harry apparently began (not so productive) conversations with Princess Charles and William, although unnamed pony newspapers recently claimed that William accused his brother of having a fame over the family after the big interview. ‘

Yet a source told Vanity Fair that ‘Harry was in touch with his father and his brother and his grandmother’, and that ‘he was told of his grandfather’s death at the same time as the rest of the family and he mourns just like the rest of them. The Duke of Sussex walks with William in the funeral procession from Windsor Castle to St. George’s Chapel.

Meanwhile, Meghan apparently did everything in her power to fly to the UK with Harry, but because she was pregnant – the couple’s second child this morning – her doctor refused medical permission for the trip. As for the funeral itself, the public was asked not to attend, taking into account coronavirus protocols.
