Prince Harry and William ‘unite’ to approve Princess Diana’s statue in time for unveiling in July

Prince Harry and William have reportedly reunited to approve the statue of Princess Diana in time for a unveiling at Kensington Palace this summer.

The brothers are said to have signed a final design for the statue to be unveiled on July 1, which would be the 60th birthday of their deceased mother.

Sculptors Ian Rank-Broadley, whose portrait of the Queen appears on all British coins, create the commissioned image.

The hope of repairing a rift between the two comes in the aftermath of Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive two-hour CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.

A source told The Sun that Zara Tindall and her husband Mike had been playing peacemaker between the two for months before the Oprah interview.

And a source close to the sculptor told The Sun: ‘It will be signed by William and Harry, as far as I know.

Prince William is said to be furious about Harry and Meghan’s telling-all to Oprah after they accuse racism of the royal family, claiming that one member increased the color of Archie’s skin.

The interview came after the Duke of Cambridge was angry at the way the Sussexes ‘insulted’ the queen with a ‘disrespectful’ response to her ban on using the word ‘royal’ in future businesses when announcing that they leaving the royal life.

‘I know he did work with the boys now, and I think it would be amazing. We are fortunate to have him as an artist in the UK. ‘

Planners at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea have previously approved the plans for the statue, although its dimensions and location have only been given.

Historic England also said the proposal would have no negative impact on Grade I Kensington Palace.

Jane Siddell, inspector of Ancient Monuments for Historic England, wrote earlier: ‘The proposed art installation is located in the Sunken Garden, an early 20th century element of the gardens some distance from the eastern front of the palace.

‘The location was carefully chosen, with the statue not located in the middle of the paths in the garden, near an opening in the fences.

‘It will be visible to the public looking at the garden, but the statue will not intrude on the view on or from the palace due to the slightly sunken and screened position.

“There is a tradition that statues are installed in Kensington Gardens and around Kensington Palace, for example the statue of King William III in the south of the palace and Queen Victoria at the Round Pond, and the proposed installation follows the tradition.”

The reunion of the brothers will take place after Prince Harry referred to the breakup with William during his interview with Oprah.

He told the host for the talk show: ‘Like I said before, I love William. He’s my brother. We are through hell together.

“I mean, we have a shared experience. But we are on different paths. ‘

William maintained that the royals ‘were very much not a racist family’, as he and Kate visited a school in east London to support a mental health support service in March.

Sky News reporter Inzamam Rashid asked him, “Sir, have you talked to your brother since the interview?”

Prince William replied teasingly, “I have not spoken to him yet, but I have.”

MailOnline contacted Ian Rank-Broadley and Buckingham Palace for comment.

The Queen and Prince Charles all smile as they are pictured together for the first time after the interview on Friday – while Prince Harry is relaxing on a beach in California, more than 5,000 miles away.

The charming new image of the Queen and Prince Charles enjoying a socially distant walk was cut when they took part in a private engagement at Frogmore on the King’s Windsor estate, the details of which will be announced in the next few weeks will be.

The queen, who turns 95 later this month, looked radiant. She wears one of her famous headscarves with a green, full-length raincoat and black rubber boots, and smiles and laughs with her gloves in her pockets.

While the latest picture is on a whim, it is a happy contrast to the events of recent months.

Both the Queen and Charles are deeply saddened by the sad departure of Harry and Meghan as working royals and their subsequent emigration to California.

And as a gifted grandmother and father, they were also personally wounded by the bitter and extremely damaging allegations that have since been leveled at them – and other royal family members – by the couple.

It comes when Prince Harry is spotted on a walk along the seafront with his dog while entering the LA lifestyle, after getting two jobs, including a role as a Silicon Valley chief impact officer.

A relaxed Duke of Sussex, 36, was wearing his baseball cap back and wearing sunglasses while frolicking in the sea and throwing a tennis ball for his black Labrador, Pula, on Friday.
