Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly seeking a 12-month extension for their royal retirement

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning serious talks with senior members of the royal family. The Sussexes are reportedly preparing for talks to extend their royal retirement agreement with Buckingham Palace, which expires on March 31, 2021.

The couple is expected to make a series of “friendly video calls” to senior royals in January before Harry flies to Harry in the UK early next year (if COVID restrictions allow) for personal talks on the subject, according to ‘ a new report from The sun. According to sources, the talks are ‘less confrontational’ than those that took place during the family’s Sandringham summit in January 2020.

Harry and Meghan’s main priorities in the talks are apparently to maintain their royal protection. It has been widely reported that Harry was crushed to lose his military titles as part of the couple’s initial royal retirement. The military roles Harry had previously held have been vacant since the royal exodus and are expected to remain unfinished until at least next summer, but leave open the possibility that he could negotiate to regain at least some of his military titles.

“Harry regrets that he lost the titles and kept them open for as long as possible, keeping the olive branch out,” a top assistant said of the situation. “Do not be surprised if it is not filled even after March 31.”

According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, the relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family is recovering and they want to return as a family in 2021 for some major milestones if travel restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so. Some of the upcoming royal events that Harry and Meghan (and their son, Archie Harrison) allegedly want to attend include the Queen’s 95th birthday on April 21, Prince Philip’s 100th birthday on June 10 and the unveiling of a statue of Princess Diana on July 1, on what would be her 60th birthday.

“Although they’ll do any of this through Zoom, Harry wants to meet face-to-face to tie it all up,” Morton explained. “Things seem to have calmed down. Harry has been in touch with the queen more often than you might think. But certain things you personally need to be there. It will take a few weeks. It may be after April depending on COVID. “

Although things have improved between Harry, Meghan and the rest of the royal family, royal sources say the details of the expansion of the royal exit are still difficult to find out.

“Expect things to drag on after March 31,” the top assistant said The sun. “The Sussexes set out their stall very clearly.”
