Prince Charles pays tribute to his father, Prince Philip

“My dear Dad was a very special person who I think would be amazed at the response and the moving things that were said about him, and from that point of view we are deeply grateful to my family for all that,” Prince Charles said in ” a statement from Highgrove House, his country house in Tetbury, Gloucestershire. “It will support us in this particular loss and in this particularly sad time.”

Prince Philip died peacefully at Windsor Castle on Friday morning at the age of 99.
He will be laid to rest next Saturday.

“I especially wanted to say that my father, as I assume for the past 70 years, has rendered the most striking, dedicated service to the Queen, my family and the country, but also to the entire Commonwealth,” Prince Charles said.

Prince Philip’s long-standing funeral plans have been adapted to respect certain Covid-19 restrictions, with all the elements involved in contact with the public removed.

Prince Philip’s death was marked in a gloomy way, as the royal household and the British government asked the public not to collect or leave flowers at royal residences while the country is still under strict Covid-19 restrictions.
