President’s Snowstorm 2021 is taking shape, and arrives tonight

DETROIT – A winter weather advice is in effect for Detroit and all of southeast Michigan until Tuesday afternoon.

A flood warning is in effect along the St. Clair River.

The Valentine’s Day 2021 storm that brings snow and ice to Texas and the deep south becomes President’s Snowstorm 2021 for Detroit and southeast Michigan. There are two rounds of snow; one in the morning and the other from late Monday to early Tuesday.

There are two rounds of snow arriving in Detroit and Southeast Michigan tonight through Tuesday morning.

The first round comes after midnight, Sunday. Lowest overnight positions will be in the upper single digits as light snow showers flow over the region. Much of it will disappear after breakfast, Monday morning, and by mid-morning, 1 to 3 inches is possible.

President’s Day, Monday afternoon will be mostly cloudy and very cold. Highlights in the mid teens.

The second round of snow has an impact on the region late Monday afternoon, Monday night, Monday night and Tuesday morning. The snow will be wider and more intense. By the end of Tuesday morning, an extra 3 to 7 inches is possible.

A total of 6 to 9 or 10 inches of snow is possible. The larger amounts of snow (7 to 10 inches) are reserved for areas closer to the Great Lakes and the Detroit River and the St. Clair River (from Port Huron through Clemens, Monroe and Luna Pier). The lower amounts of snow, which will continue to be significant (5 to 8 inches), will be in neighborhoods much further north and west of Detroit (Livingston County through Flint, Lapeer and Sandusky).

Tuesday it will be very cold with afternoon temperatures in the higher teens.

On Wednesday it will be partly sunny and cold. Daytime temperatures will be in the low 20s.

There’s a chance of snow showers on Thursday. The highs are about 30 degrees.

Friday and Saturday will again have a mix of clouds and sun. Highlights will be in the mid 20s.
