Prepare for ice cream this weekend

According to Storm Team4, meteorologist Chuck Bell, the storm on Saturday is likely to pile up more than an inch. “Cold, sub-freezing air will stick to the surface here, while moist air from the Gulf Coast and South Africa will rise above it.”

Another round of precipitation that causes more than a quarter of an inch of ice to glaze over the DC area is forecast in this weekend’s forecast. This is what you need to know.

“The National Weather Service has issued an opinion on the winter weather as well as a severe ice storm warning for most of the area starting tomorrow morning and running through until Sunday morning,” said Storm Team4 meteorologist Amelia Draper. A wintery mix will develop during the morning and afternoon hours tomorrow, especially in the DC Metro and in the south and east. ‘

The winter weather advice will be available from 10:00 to Sunday at 07:00 in a large part of the DC region.

The accumulation of ice on power lines and tree branches can lead to power outages.

According to Storm Team4, meteorologist Chuck Bell, the storm on Saturday is likely to pile up more than an inch. “Cold, sub-freezing air will stick to the surface here, while moist air from the Gulf Coast and the South will run over it.”

Bell added that untreated surfaces such as roads, sidewalks and railings will be “icy and slippery.”

“Be prepared to stay home on Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday morning,” he advised.

Bell said the storm would recede by Sunday afternoon and that most of the DC area could become at least a few degrees above freezing, “which is critical to improving travel conditions.”

He said another winter storm, which he called an “impact event”, would produce more snow and less freezing rain when it dawned Monday night through Tuesday.

Another storm “that should have more rain and less snow will come on Thursday,” Bell said.

“It’s not going to be a fun or pleasant weather,” he warned.
