Powerlifter Dan Bell becomes the first man to weigh a total of more than 1179 kilograms (2600 pounds)

Less than three months after Petr Petras took the all-time record total with Dan Bell, on February 21, 2021, Bell monumentally regained the record in Hybrid Showdown 3 in Miami, FL. Bell weighed 1,182.5 kilograms. He is the first elevator ever to achieve this total in the Raw With Wraps category.

Bell was 180 kilograms, which placed him in the category of more than 140 kilograms. He opened his day by breezing three easy back squats. The first was 465 kilograms (1,025 pounds), followed by 483 kilograms (1,065 pounds). He rounded out the first lift of the day by setting the world record with 500 kilograms (1,102 pounds), which honestly looked like a speed bump. Next was the bank press. Once again, Bell went three for three. His opening weight was 250 kilograms (551 pounds), and then he switched to 267.5 kilograms (590 pounds). That second attempt went up just as fast. Bell ended up on the bench press with an easy pressure of 272.5 kilograms (600 pounds). He performed all three presses with a false grip, this is when the lifter fails to wrap his or her thumb around the barbell while pressing.

He put his share on the world record in the first attempt at the deadlock, where he pulled 390 kilograms (859 pounds) fairly easily. Bell wanted to add even more weight to his freshly ground ATWR and approached the bar for a second attempt, this time with 410 kilograms (904.5 pounds) on the bar. Bell gets up so fast with the weight that he takes steps with the bar so that he becomes red light. He gave it one last try and nailed it on the last attempt of his day. As a result, he is now the first man to have ever weighed more than 1,179 kilograms. in the Raw With Wraps category.

The Hybrid Performance event featured a who’s who in powerlifting. Julius Maddox arrives and sets a new raw world record of all time on the bench press of 355 kilograms (782.6 pounds). Jon Call, aka Jujimufu, was also there, as was the death toll phenomenon Jamal Browner.

With this display of powerlifting mastery, Bell now once again has the Raw With Wraps and Raw Total in his possession. In February 2020, he gained a total of 1,126 kilograms (2,485 pounds) and then a year later packed an extra 55kg on the performance. Where does Bell come from? We’m not sure. But for now, the man deserves a day off.
