PowerColor is the first to unveil its custom AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB with the Hellhound variant

The ‘Where Gaming Begins’ event was hosted by AMD earlier today and it was the official unveiling of the Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB. That’s not all that happened. Apart from the occasion, PowerColor is the first to officially unveil its custom Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB. The custom variant of PowerColor bears the name Hellhound. The Radeon RX 6700 XT Hellhound is a departure from the usual design philosophy of PowerColor.

The PowerColor Radeon RX 6700 XT Hellhound is a departure from the red color scheme of previous PowerColor models

According to what we learned during the launch event, the Radeon RX 6700 XT will feature the Navi 22 XT GPU which contains 40 computing units equivalent to 2560 power processors. It is equipped with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 192-bit bus interface and the RDNA 2 graphics architecture. The reference card is powered by an 8 + 6-pin connection configuration with a TDP of 230W. It also has 96 MB Infinity Cache and 40 Ray accelerators for raytracing capabilities on the RDNA 2 based GPUs.

The Hellhound differs in power delivery as it benefits from dual 8-pin connectors instead of the 8 + 6-pin connector configuration as seen on the reference model. It is likely that the Hellhound will also have a higher TDP. For the design, PowerColor had a lighter blue color that was very similar to water blue, rather than the standard red accents seen in the Red Devil and Red Dragon range. The back plate contains a devil-like dog that coincides with the Hellhound namesake. The dog is inside a blue triangle and the eye is illuminated with a blue LED. The card appears to have blue LED accents based on the teaser.

The PowerColor Radeon RX 6700 XT Hellhound looks like a solid card with an attractive design that is likely to have a premium price. We’m not sure if other manufacturers will follow their example and bother their cards, but we did leak images of custom models from ASUS.
