Power outage by thousands in Fairfax, Loudoun provinces

Thousands of customers are in the dark across Northern Virginia. The interruptions are in Fairfax and Loudoun.

Thousands of customers are in the dark Tuesday morning across Northern Virginia.

Dominion Energy reports widespread power outages affecting nearly 15,000 customers in Fairfax County and 650 in Loudoun County, starting at 7:15 p.m.

Earlier in the morning, the outbreak affected nearly 30,000 people.

The WTOP Traffic Center reports that several signals are dark along the U.S. Route 50 corridor between South Riding and Greenbriar.

Drivers should proceed with caution and follow police directions if present. Make sure you stop at dark intersections and give way.

Dominion’s website says power must be restored by 10am
