Post worker sentenced for theft of consoles from the post

Federal prosecutors announced Wednesday that a U.S. Postal Service supervisor has been sentenced in a case involving consoles that were stolen from the post office during the spring.

Zoheb A. Deura, 34, of Derby, Connecticut, was fined $ 20,000 and sentenced to three years in prison, of which the first nine months are in house arrest. In October, he pleaded guilty to the theft, between February and April 2020, of numerous packages, including packages containing ‘PlayStation and Nintendo gaming devices’, as well as an Apple iPhone and computer.

Deura also stole packages of shoes and clothes; after an investigation by the inspector general of the postal service, Deura is charged on October 21 and pleaded guilty to embezzlement of post by a postal service employee. Deura has since resigned from the Postal Service.

Although Deura’s crimes preceded the launch and launch of the PlayStation 5, the news may still resonate with those who have found the console difficult. Anecdotal reports of PS5s being stolen during transport appeared in the news shortly after the console’s launch in early November. Amazon has launched an investigation in the UK after several customers there said their console boxes arrived filled with cat food, appliances or other rubbish they had not ordered.
