Post Malone released a cover of Hootie and the Blowfish’s hit song “Only Wanna Be With You” from 1995 before his performance during the Pokémon Day 25th anniversary virtual concert on Saturday, February 27th.
The version of Post Malone, officially called the ‘Pokémon 25’ version of the song, swaps the original track production for lavish, echo-guitar and many synthesizer sound effects reminiscent of the original Pokémon video game.
The song will be included in the set list for the appearance of Post Malone during the Pokémon Memorial Concert, which will appear on February 27 at 19:00 EST / 16:00 PST. The event can be viewed for free on the official Pokémon YouTube and Twitch channels and on Pokémon’s 25-year-old website.
Earlier this year, Post Malone appeared as a cartoon version of himself in the music video for his and Ozzy Osbourne’s collaboration, “It’s a Raid.” The song is originally from Osbourne’s most recent album Ordinary man, released in February 2020. Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ ign also released a remix of their track “Spicy” for 2020, now with new verses by YG, J Balvin and Tyga. The singer plans to host the Osheaga Festival in Montreal, which will currently take place in person from July 30 to August 1.
