Portland Trail Blazers’ Jusuf Nurkic exits with right wrist fracture against Indiana Pacers

Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic broke his right wrist on Thursday night during a 111-87 loss to the visiting Indiana Pacers.

Nurkic could be seen holding the wrist after sweeping the ball in the third quarter, and he fell to the floor after contact under Indiana’s basket. At one point, he went to the locker room and did not return.

The Trail Blazers did not immediately indicate how much time Nurkic will miss.

The 7-foot Bosnian center averaged 10.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in the match.

Nurkic missed much of the first half of last season after breaking his left leg in a match in March 2019. He returned to the team to play in the bubble in Orlando, Florida, after the season was suspended due to coronavirus.

“He had a long way back from his other injury,” coach Terry Stotts said. “He had a rough start to the season, it looked like he would get back on track. It’s obviously a big setback for him and for us.”

Stotts said Nurkic was in a splint after the game.

The Blazers were already without forward / center Zach Collins at the end of December after a single operation.
