Porsche joins battle, unveils 2 sleek new e-bikes, and it costs exactly what you would expect

The newly announced Taycan Cross Turismo from Porsche is not the only electric vehicle to hit the news this morning. The carmaker has just introduced two new electric bikes with full suspension designed for both the streets and the sidewalks.

The two new models, known as the Porsche eBike Sport and the Porsche eBike Cross, both have full-suspension carbon fiber frames.

Porsche claims that the frame designs have an ‘organic shape inspired by the lines of the Porsche Taycan’.

The power of the two e-bikes is Shimano’s latest electric motor system, the Shimano EP8. The 2.6 kg (5.7 lb) lightweight motor with magnesium casing was launched late last year and boasts up to 85 Nm of torque.

On the Porsche eBike Sport on street-facing, an electronic Shimano transmission is coupled to high-quality Magura MT hydraulic disc brakes, offering exactly the kind of component package you would expect from an e-bike with Porsche’s name.

The brake levers are integrated into the handlebars to hide all wiring and cables, while the rear shock is integrated into the top tube in the same way to continue the streamlined theme through the bike.

Magura also provided the fine inverted front fork, while Fox provided the rear absorber. Supernova M99 high-specification LED lights are integrated into the steering and aerodynamic seating, and Continental’s SpeedKing tires ensure smooth rolling for urban rides.

The off-road optimized Porsche eBike Cross has a similar design but with several components ready on the trail. The Magura MT track brakes grip larger discs to produce less heat under intense braking, and the mechanical Shimano XT 12-fold shifting system provides instantaneous shifting that the Porsche eBike Sport’s most popular electronic slider cannot match.

The Porsche eBike Cross also gets a hydraulically powered Crankbrothers drip post to dynamically adjust riders in the middle of a run.

Both the Cross and the Sport can reach a top speed of 25 km / h under pedal assistance, which is the legal limit for this type of electric bicycle in Europe.

The new e-bikes will be available later this spring, where they will be offered in three frame sizes at Porsche dealers and select bike shops.

The Porsche eBike Sport will cost $ 10,700, while the Porsche eBike Cross will be slightly cheaper at $ 8,549.

If you have money for a Porsche Taycan, you are probably in the group that can at least consider a Porsche e-bike to go with it. And Porsche has you covered if you ever want to bring both for the same trip.

The image at the top of the article of the bikes on the back carrier of the newly announced Taycan Cross Turismo is not just visible. Porsche actually developed that carrier specifically for the job.

As the company explained:

Porsche has developed a unique, strong-bearing rear carrier for the new Taycan Cross Turismo that can be easily built in and is perfectly designed for transporting eBikes. Thanks to long wheel rails and a high load of 50 kilograms, up to two eBikes can be mounted and the tailgate can still be opened while loading.
