Poll: 69% of Americans support cannabis legalization

According to a new survey by Quinnipiac University, 69% of Americans support the legalization of marijuana.

This increased by 18% compared to the first time interviewers conducted the survey in 2012, and 12% compared to 2019.

According to Marijuana Moment, the poll showed that 62% of Republicans are in favor of ending the ban.

In addition, Democrats also support the cause, with 78% of them.

Quinnipiac University has been questioning Americans on the issue for more than nine years. This time, the interviewers spoke to 1,237 American adults.

And while 70% of registered voters support adult legalization, President Joe Biden is still one of those who opposes it.

However, he supports decriminalization, deletion of records, legalization of medical cannabis, as well as giving states the right to question their laws.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Sunday that a bill to legalize marijuana at the federal level would soon end up on the floor of his chamber.

“Once it’s launched, it’s going to hit the floor,” he said.

Schumer drafted the measure with Senate Finance Committee chairman Ron Wyden and Senator Cory Booker.
