Police shoot, killing the suspect in Blaine’s theft after chasing near Braham, Minn.

The Bureau of Criminal Justice is investigating a deadly police shooting near Braham, Minnesota on Sunday after police said a stolen vehicle call in Blaine led to a chase.

According to the Blaine police station, one person was shot dead by police and one was arrested after the chase. Police say the suspects shot and hit a K9 from the Anoka police station. Another officer was admitted to hospital with injuries sustained during an initial incident with the suspects in Blaine.

Police say the shooting and chase were the end result of a call to a department store in Blaine Sunday afternoon for a stolen vehicle call. There, according to police, the suspects fled from officers and chased another vehicle nearby.

“On arrival, the officers located the suspects in a stolen vehicle and the suspects fled to the officers’ place,” Chief Brian Podany explained.

Steve Lund says he went to drop off his wife at Kohl’s when he saw Blaine police officers pull up a car parked just outside the store.

“They were able to take off and chase them through the hallways in the parking lot because I thought it was pretty fast, but they chased them through the lot and were able to escape,” Lund recalls.

The suspects were able to reach another parking lot. “The suspects then stabbed a vehicle in the vicinity with the use of a gun,” Chief Podany added. “Our officers located that vehicle and the suspects fled when we tried to stop.”

In the stolen vehicle, police said the suspects took off north on Highway 65.

“Due to the seriousness of the crimes, the officers chased the vehicle on Highway 65 north,” the police chief said.

Police did not want to say how fast they drove or how long it took to get about 40km on the highway near the city of Braham, but it ended up with the vehicle of the suspects.

“After the vehicle became unfit, two adult men fled the vehicle and shots were fired,” Chief Podany said. A dog from Anoka was shot at this point and one of the suspects was shot at the scene and pronounced dead at the scene. ‘

Police in Anoka confirming that their K9 Bravo was shot during the incident. After the operation. we are told that he is in a stable condition. The other person in the vehicle was arrested and police say they were not injured.

We also know that a Blaine police officer was admitted to the hospital with minor injuries sustained during the initial Blaine incident.

Highway 65 was closed all afternoon while investigators worked to investigate the scene. Police have not yet identified the suspect who was shot dead.
