Police respond to ‘active’ situation in Ogden

OGDEN, Utah – Police are negotiating with an armed suspect in Ogden.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Ogden police advised residents to avoid the 36th Street and Harrison Blvd area. as the “active police incident” developed. They later expanded it to the area 36-40 and 800-1100 East.

The department later said police negotiators were in contact with an armed suspect in 900 Maple Street.

“The suspect is being restrained, and the incident continues,” Ogden PD wrote on Facebook, still advising the public to stay away from the area.

Dozens of officers, including SWAT units, were seen responding in the area.

Several civilians who broadcast the live stream arrested a man holding a gun to his own head. Later, one of the videos showed what was apparently an end to the standoff. Police have not yet confirmed this.

The Salt Lake Tribune, a content sharing partner with FOX 13 News, reports that a person was killed in a shooting at 1485 Harrison Blvd. (the location of a Smith grocery store), which is about 5 miles from the active police scene. It has not been confirmed whether the incidents are related.
