Police are searching for a man who allegedly drove over a pregnant woman and stole her car

MADISON, Wis (WMTV) – Madison police are looking for a man who they say assaulted a pregnant woman while stealing her car at a gas station on Sunday afternoon.

Madison police say they responded to a car theft just before 12:30 a.m. on the Mercury Trip at 7717 Mineral Point Road. The 34-year-old pregnant woman told police she was filling her tires with air when the thief drove into her running vehicle.

The woman tried to get him out the door of the passenger, but the thief put the car backwards and drove over her right leg and thigh, police said. The woman, who is 20 weeks pregnant, was transported to a hospital for soft tissue injuries to her leg.

Police say the suspect escaped with the vehicle, and they are currently trying to obtain video footage of the Kwik Trip. The suspect is described as a man about 6 feet tall, wearing black and a face mask.

Call the Madison Police Department if anyone has information about the suspect’s identity.
