Polestar expands the Polestar 2 range, adds a single-car variant

On Tuesday morning, Polestar expanded its range of battery-powered vehicles with two new versions of the Polestar 2 freeway, both of which would have to be cheaper than the fully charged $ 59,500 Polestar 2 Launch Edition we tested last summer.

In the next few weeks, the carmaker will offer a simplified version of the twin-engine Polestar 2. It says that the version should have an EPA range of 386 km. It should increase if you prefer it with the Plus Pack, which adds a slightly nicer interior (using the WeaveTech material from the Launch Edition), more speakers for the sound system, heated rear seats, steering wheel and wiper blades, but perhaps most important, a heat pump.

The addition of a heat pump means that the Polestar 2 can heat or cool the cabin with less power from the 78 kWh battery, and Polestar says that at ambient temperatures it can add between 40-60-15F (4.4-15.5stemC) to 10 percent up to the car range.

By the end of 2021, U.S. and Canadian customers can also purchase a single-car version of the Polestar 2. Polestar is annoying that the car drives the front or rear axle, but that the single car now has 231 hp (172 kW), compared to the 201 hp (150 kW) cars used in the two-engine versions. It should have an EPA range of 418 km (260 miles), or even larger if selected with the Plus Pack heat pump.

Pricing and a confirmed range are expected in the near future, and if you can’t wait, Polestar is offering an extra $ 2,000 price if you swap an internal combustion vehicle for a Launch Edition.
