Pokémon Sword and Shield Player shares heartbreaking shiny metagross loss

Blink Pokémon are some of the most elusive creatures in the series, so it can be heartbreaking to lose the chance to have one as part of your collection. Pokémon Sword and Shield player and Reddit user Cleffa-on-a-Laptop shared a video of a Max Raid fight in which they had the chance to capture a Shiny Metagross. In the video, the user can be seen deliberating between Poke Ball options before choosing to use an Ultra Ball. Although it can not be seen in the video, the user mentions in the thread that they actually had a Master Ball, but prefer to save it. Unfortunately, that Ultra Ball was not enough to capture the creature, leading to a lost Blink!

Introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver, Shiny Pokemon has become very popular since then. There are fans who spend hundreds of hours searching for some of the most elusive shiny Pokémon, so the prospect of losing one of the opportunities is the least said. What’s more, Metagross is often used by competitive players, so the essence could have been an invaluable part of a team!

Alas, it does not appear to be intended for Cleffa-on-a-Laptop! Perhaps their video would be a warning (not to be confused with a Clefairy Tale) about the need to use Master Balls a little more judiciously. Master Balls was introduced with Pokémon Red and Green, and most series entries allow players to get just one throughout the match; they also have a catch rate of 100%. As such, some players tend to overcook them and wait for the perfect opportunity. If the Reddit user had just chosen to use the Master Ball in their inventory, he might have had a new team member, as opposed to regretting a lost chance. Pokémon fans, do not let the same happen to you!
