Reference system rewards for both coaches
The referrer can only claim rewards if they have added the referenced coach to their friends list. Coaches can only be referred if they have not played Pokémon GO before or have not played Pokémon GO in the last 90 days.
All these tasks must be completed by the referred coach to count as completed. Most tasks are designed to attract and let the designated coach play for a while – judging by the search requirements for at least a month.
Be sure to add the referenced player as a friend in Pokémon GO to claim rewards. You must have space in your Friends List to add the referenced coach. Fortunately, Niantic has started recently expanded the size of the Friends List.
Rewards can be claimed in the milestone rewards of your profile.
