Riot Games has announced some major updates regarding the AFK fines in Valorant, but some players are worried that these changes will give more power.
On February 15, Riot announced his plans going forward with players going to AFK in matches, along with a revamped penalty system for repeat offenders.
The changes, which are planned to come to the game in patch 2.04, include improved AFK detection and will be expanded to include ‘disruptive behavior and non-participating game’ in future versions.
That said, Patch 2.03 will impose the controversial fines that are applied on an “as needed” basis. Penalties start small with just warnings and XP denial, but will get more serious to include deductions from your pre-game dodging rankings, deductions from your in-game AFKing position and even bans throughout the game.
Going to play AFK will cost players the most money.
“Simply put, we have increased the detection and management of AFKs. And we are eager to bring it to your game, ”said Riot.
In addition, chat-based violations, targeting patch 2.04, are being looked at to include communication bans, rankings and ban on relevance.
“Let’s be crystal clear: there is no room for violence, threats or targeted harassment in Valorant – this behavior will not be tolerated,” Riot explained.

Furthermore, Riot also plans to expand these deductions for voice conversations, but wants to find ways to encourage a “pro-social” game and encourage positive behavior.
While it may all seem good, Cloud9 coach Chris Dream ‘Myrick is working on the penalties some players may endure when dealing with trolls throwing games.
“I do not understand why evasions should ever be punished, even if there is a problem with AFK in the player concerned,” he wrote on Twitter. ‘What’s the benefit of encouraging players to stay in front porches with trolls and harassers? Can we just not? ”
Players can start losing ELO by evading matches with trolls.
The problem seems to be that these new penalties make it so that players who want to avoid playing with a troll who throws matches and eats ELO, can not do so without having consequences.
We will have to look at what Riot can do to correct these usable elements associated with AFK fines, as some players appear to be involved.
