Pokémon events in 2021 to celebrate the 25th anniversary

What started in 1996 as a video game about collectible “pocket monsters” has grown into so much more.

This year, Pokémon is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and in addition to helping pop singer Katy Perry celebrate the festival, the creators behind the popular franchise are holding virtual events, releasing their special merchandise and going out to celebrate it.

If you have Pokémon fans in your household, check out our list of everything we & # 39; ve been celebrating so far. Rest assured that 2021 will be a Poké-full year, and as far as these special events are concerned, you and your family will want to catch everyone.

P25 Music

In addition to Katy Perry, Pokémon will partner with Universal Music Group to collaborate with a variety of musicians to create special music with Pokémon themes that will be released throughout the year. Pokémon announced its collaboration with Katy Perry in January, saying details about her participation and the other artists in the series will be revealed later.

Live action celebration video

In a YouTube video created just for the special occasion, a Poké Ball zooms past Pokémon, trading cards, soft characters, video games and more. It’s Pokémon’s special way of summarizing all the milestones of its 25 years as a franchise, and it’s a fun move for the fans.

Products with 25th birthday theme

To kick off the celebration, Pokémon announced a partnership with Bear Walker skateboards in January. Fans of the franchise can buy skateboards in a limited edition, and should be on the lookout for many more merchandise coming to Pokémon Center in 2021.

New trading cards

The Pokémon Trading Card Game will get special 25-year-old spending cards with the mix later in 2021. Meanwhile, from February 26, big tickets with Pikachu and many more Pokémon will be available.

Special merchandise and cooperation

During the year, Pokémon teased announcing collaborations with major brands, ranging from McDonald’s to Build-A-Bear Workshop, for special offers and merchandise.

Pokémon Go: Kanto Event

To help celebrate, the mobile game Pokémon Go, which is also celebrating its fifth year of existence this year, will hold a special event in the Augmented Reality game on February 20th. Game developer Niantic says the event, which is an in-app purchase, will take Pokémon trainers back to the early days of the Pokémon franchise through the first 150 Pokémon originally found in the game’s Kanto region, to make available.
