Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes rumored for Nintendo Switch this year

Following the touched-down versions of the 2006 2006 games, it will be announced next month.

It looks like Pokémon Diamond and Pearl can be made again for the Nintendo Switch.

This is according to fan site Centro Pokemon, which reports that updated versions of the two titles will be released this year. Apparently, the games are announced in February to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon series. It was also discovered that the web address diamondpearl.pokemon has been activated. When you visit this site, a 403 error occurs, which means that access to the site is currently blocked.

The updated version of Diamond and Pearl will then be launched at some point during 2021. The site also claims that they will feature classic recording mechanics rather than the updated systems introduced in Pokémon Let’s Go.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were originally launched for the Nintendo DS console in Japan in 2006, before coming to the rest of the world in 2007 and 2008. Although there is no confirmation yet that the recurring rumors so far are true, it does follow the Pokemon Company’s strategy of reworking earlier entries in the series. Pokémon Red and Blue, Gold and Silver, as well as Sapphire and Ruby – the first three generations in the franchise – have all received the remake treatment, so it’s logical that Diamond and Pearl will be next. In fact, it is so similar to the previous strategy of the company that Alex Donaldson, VG247, has already postulated that Diamond and Pearl remakes may be on the map.

The last entry in the franchise was 2019’s Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Earlier this week, The Pokemon Company announced a year of celebrations to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The firm has teamed up with pop star Katy Perry for this anniversary.

Meanwhile, New Pokémon Snap will be launched for Nintendo Switch in April.
