Point Fortin businessman Evril “Tony” Jeffrey was shot several times in what police believe was a home invasion Friday night.

He was pronounced dead at San Fernando General Hospital.

The incident took place in Jeffrey’s 16th Street, Techier Village.

Jeffrey owned an electronics store in Point Fortin. He was also employed at Atlantic, Point Fortin.

The Express was told that Jeffrey was a community activist and a celebrity in Point Fortin.

He was also president of the Anglican Secondary School Fyzabad.

Neighbors reported that shots were heard around 4 p.m. Three men were seen running from the scene.

Investigators are expected to review footage from closed circuit cameras in the area.

Point Fortin residents expressed shock and sadness over Jeffrey’s death.

“My deepest condolences to the family. Point Fortin really suffered a great loss. He was a family man and a community builder,” one person said.

Another person said, ‘We do not know why this sincere, hardworking, loving person was called out of the works to reward. But what we do know is that God is in control. ‘

A member of the PTA Secondary School PTA said: “My Jeffrey gave a lot. He was a gem for us at the Fyzabad Anglican Secondary PTA President.”
