Plug-in exhaust in the Tesla charger

A ram pickup truck pulled over to a Tesla Supercharger and blocked it. The truck identifies as a Toyota Prius and has the charging cable in its outlet, but the truck does not mislead anyone.

Of course, this pickup driver probably considers it a humorous act. The driver clearly wants to draw attention to this. Why other than identify a Prius and “plug” a charging cable into the massive exhaust gas?

Admittedly, we laughed when we saw it. However, blocking charging stations is a real thing and for drivers of electric cars it is fascinating. A blocked charger can cause an electric motor to jam if the charge is near zero and there is nowhere else to turn on.

In the early days of EVs, blocked chargers were probably the result of drivers of diesel / cars not knowing that the spots were specifically for electric cars. These days, it’s a little different. The directions have improved and most drivers out there are well aware of the purpose of charging stations. It is therefore rare to see that a charger has been blocked today.

In this case, however, it is another level of lack of education to identify as a Prius and join a Supercharger. The ‘normal’ Prius does not even plug in and he certainly can not access the Tesla Supercharger network. So, although the Ram truck driver probably finds it funny, the jokes are really on him / her as it shows a total lack of knowledge on many levels.

Besides blocking charging stations, there is another more rude act involving Teslas and truck. We refer to the innumerable role of coal on Teslas, which is carried out by illegally modified diesel trucks that often target Teslas specifically in nature.
