PlayStation has officially “withdrawn” the franchise website for its first party shooter, Killzone.
Although neither developer Guerrilla nor Sony have publicly commented on the change, the statement said the decision “does not affect online multiplayer modes, player stats or rankings”, but confirms that it is ‘no longer possible’ ‘to create or manage Killzone Shadow. Val-clans.
“The official website for the Killzone franchise has retired,” a statement say now if you visit Killzone.com now (thanks, VGC). “From now on, visitors to Killzone.com will be sent to PlayStation.com.
“While this change does not affect the online multiplayer modes, player stats, or rankings for Killzone Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall, it is no longer possible to create or manage clans in Killzone Shadow Fall. We apologize for this. inconvenience.
“Many thanks to Killzone.com’s many fans and visitors over the years for their enthusiasm and support.”
The statement was simply signed “Guerrilla”, the studio behind the shooter franchise.
In some ways, this is not surprising; it’s been seven years since we last saw an episode of the shooter series, the latest of which was a launch title for the PlayStation 4 … and the release of the PS5 came and went with no sign of the series in the PS5 launch game standing in a row.
But even though Guerrilla has released four episodes of the shooter in the best part of a decade, it may indicate that there are currently no plans to revive the franchise, especially since the studio is currently working on the fan favorite . Horizon Zero Dawn series.
Maybe one day we’ll see Killzone on a list of upcoming PS5 games, but for now, you’ll just have to stick to what’s we’re already getting.
