Platinum seems to have explained why it’s so quiet about Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 2

In the same interview with VGC last week, PlatinumGames co-founders Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya used the company’s emerging title. Project GG to seemingly touch on why it was so quiet about certain other releases.

With this other games – like Bayonetta 3for example – it all comes down to the publisher’s approach. In the case of Bayonetta 3, Nintendo is the publisher. However, if it’s something like Project GG, Kamiya explains how Platinum can essentially share what it wants, whenever it wants (without getting into trouble):

‘Also because we self-publish [Project G.G.], there are no publishers getting mad at me this time, so I’ll share things online and put up screenshots whenever I want … “

As for other titles (again, let’s use Bayonetta 3), it’s simply not Platinum’s decision to take. Inaba says how the company respects the approach that other publishers want to follow:

“We do not have as much say in projects that we do not publish. And we understand that different titles require different approaches, so we respect the decisions of the publisher.”

“So if there’s a difference between what we want to do with Project GG and what we normally do with our other titles, it’s not really a critique for those publishers: we respect their approaches. But especially for this title, we are approach as a company is that we hope to be more open. ‘

In terms of Project GG, therefore, you can expect to see and hear more than you would normally get at Platinum if it’s working on a game published by another company.

Could this be the reason why Platinum was so bay over Bayonetta 3? Is that why Kamiya keeps telling fans that it’s going “very well” all the time? To be honest, in the same interview, he even said that a potential 2021 update on the game is not really Platinum’s “position to say”.

What do you make of the above answers? Do you think Nintendo was told by Nintendo not to say anything about Bayonetta 3, and can not even tell us that? You know, so Nintendo can finally do some kind of surprise announcement and break the internet … Share your own thoughts below.
