Google previously announced Pixel-exclusive photo benefits to Google One subscribers. People who cough up the dough for the extra account storage will also have the ability to add Portrait Blur and Color Pop to existing photos without depth data (such as scans or photos of older devices) and even change lighting using Portrait Light. In addition, we can all look forward to a new video editor in Google Photos that offers more than 30 controls, including the ability to trim, stabilize, apply filters, brighten, rotate, cut and straighten the frame make.
Portrait Light, which ended up with the Pixel 5 and 4a 5G.
Google introduced the fairly new Portrait Light feature with the debut of the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 last year, allowing you to dynamically adjust the lighting for a scene. While depth data captured when the photo was taken can help, it works even without it, thanks to machine learning. Presumably, the same model is also applied to Portrait Blur, which can also work without depth data to blur the background of a scene, and Color Pop, which does the same to remove background colors.
These features are also applied to Google Photos, allowing you to create a photo fact to apply blur or background, provided the depth of the photos is attached. But if you import photos from an SLR or scan some old photos, you have no luck. However, we knew Google had been testing a program since last November to perform its depth data features on machine learning on multiple devices as part of a Google One Perks, and as of today it was eliminated with Portrait Blur and Portrait Light together for the ride. Google also says that some machine-driven ‘suggestion’ tools are also available for Google One subscribers, RAM and Android version ready (3GB + / Android 8.0 and later).
In addition, the video editor for which Google Photos for iOS was available ages finally comes to Android and brings thirty total controls – not just filters, but frame-straight, cut and granular modifications for brightness, contrast, saturation, shadows, white point, black point, heat and more.
Nor is it the only benefit that Google One subscribers get. Google gave them access to a free VPN last year, and they also get things like a credit-based discount, free trial runs for Stadia Pro, and even free Nest Minis. Google One subscription prices range from $ 2 per month for 100 GB to $ 10 per month for 2 TB – and higher, if you need it, with annual plans available at a discount.
The new video editor will land ‘in the coming weeks’, but the new benefits of Google One will land in the next few days.
