  • Pixel 5 owners say the phone still has issues with serious batteries running low when the phone is idle.
  • This happens regardless of the number of programs running.
  • It’s not sure if Google will fix it.

Do you wake up when you notice that your Pixel 5 battery has lost a lot of charge, even though it did little other than sit on your nightstand? You are not alone. Reaak Pulak reports (and Android Authority can confirm) that Google’s latest flagship still loses a significant amount of battery when it’s out of stock, despite promises of a solution.

In our experience, a Pixel 5 dipped in front of the bed that morning, seven and a half hours later, with a 70% battery charge. This despite the cleaning of all programs and otherwise to keep the activity to a minimum. Even newer phones seem to have the same problem.

Google promised in December that a solution to remove the Pixel 5 battery would come “soon” through an Android software update, but it does not appear to have been updated or released monthly. We asked Google for comments.

While the problem with the battery will not necessarily affect every Pixel 5 phone, it will be frustrating if you have problem. As long as the Pixel 5 normally lasts, it does not matter much if you have to go through the day with much less than a full charge.

The Pixel 5 is not the only modern Google phone with problems. Pixel 4a 5G owners have reported touch screen issues after the December 2020 security update. Even if these issues are not necessarily unresolved, they suggest that Google’s Pixel software may still need polishing.
