Pig’s head is gone at the former home of Derek Chauvin’s defense witness

Police have vandalized the one-time home in Northern California of a violent expert who testified for the defense during the murder trial of ex-cop Derek Chauvin.

Police said in a statement that they believe the Santa Rosa house was targeted because it was once the home of Barry Brodd, a retired police officer who testified at the time of George Floyd’s death in the Chauvin murder trial last week.

“It appears that the suspects in this vandalism targeted Mr. Brodd for his testimony,” the department said. “Mr. Brodd has not lived in the residence for a number of years and is no longer a resident of California.”

“Because Mr. Brodd no longer lives in the city of Santa Rosa, it appears that the victim was falsely targeted,” the statement read.

Police said they were called to the home shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday and found a severed pig’s head on the front porch and smeared blood in front of the home.

Cops also believe another vandalism attack was carried out by the same people about 45 minutes later.

In that incident, a large statue in front of Santa Rosa Plaza smeared with animal blood was found, with a sign reading ‘Oink, oink’ on the scene.

Brodd, a former Santa Rosa police officer, testified during Chauvin’s murder trial on Tuesday that he believes the ex-cop’s confinement of George Floyd is in line with proper police practice.

In a statement released after Brodd’s testimony, Santa Rosa Police Chief Rainer Navarro distanced himself from the former officer of his department.

“We are aware of former Santa Rosa Police Officer Barry Brodd who testified at the Derek Chauvin trial,” the Navarro statement said.

“Mr Brodd has not been employed by the department since 2004,” the chief wrote. “His comments do not reflect the values and beliefs of the Santa Rosa Police Department.
