Piers Morgan says it is ‘heartbreaking’ Queen Elizabeth sat alone at Prince Philip’s funeral

Piers Morgan expressed support and sympathy for Queen Elizabeth II in the hours leading up to Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday.

The Duke of Edinburgh is in St. George’s Chapel laid to rest in Windsor Castle, and given the strict coronavirus protocols, the Queen sits alone during the intimate family event.

The news of the Queen’s solo seating arrangement was first announced on Friday and Morgan, 56, announced and responded to Twitter.

“The queen, who has dedicated her life to selfless public service, will be forced to sit alone during the funeral of her 73-year-old husband, due to sophisticated restrictions. How heartbreakingly sad,” Morgan wrote Friday afternoon.

Then, Saturday morning, hours before the ceremonial royal funeral, Morgan follows another tweet in which he shares that his thoughts would be with the queen throughout the day.

“Think of the Queen today as she bids farewell to the love of her life,” Morgan tweeted with two photos of Philip and her majesty in each other’s eyes.

Morgan has left ‘Good Morning Britain’ infamous for his critical remarks about Meghan Markle following the Oprah Winfrey interview in March. Morgan’s controversial remarks were then supported by Sharon Osbourne on ‘The Talk’, which sparked an intense conversation on the air between Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and co-presenter Sheryl Underwood. It ended with Osbourne leaving the program forever.

The Duke of Edinburgh, her husband of 73-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, died on 9 April. He was 99.

The ceremonial royal funeral was inferior to previous royal deliveries. The ceremony, codenamed Operation Forth Bridge, was limited to 30 participants, but it was the Duke of Edinburgh who took part in the planning before his departure.

The Queen was accompanied by the four children she shared with Prince Philip – Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward – as well as Charles’ wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Anne’s husband Timothy Laurence and Edward’s wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

Furthermore, each of Philip’s eight grandchildren, including Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise and James, Count Severn, attended the funeral.

It was revealed earlier that Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, 39, would not be there. The Duchess of Sussex, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, was advised by her doctor not to attend. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex settled in Santa Barbara, California last year, months after the couple announced their decision to retire as senior members of the royal family.
