From Tennessee to Athens, Greece, the icy temperatures dropped further this week as the polar vortex envelops the northern hemisphere.
In recent weeks, Moscow, Chicago, Madrid and more have been covered in snow, and in some cases several feet of congestion have been reported. The storms in the US hit especially over the presidential day weekend.
In Kansas City, residents were hit with record-breaking low temperatures with -32 degrees of wind cold. Officials have appealed to those facing the cold to make sure. And in Texas, millions are without power as the power grid struggles to keep up during snowstorms and ice storms
The snow has created dramatic scenes around the world, with historic sites rarely touching snow and usually stopping busy highways.

Seattle, Washington
Seattle broke a decade-long record this weekend, with the state reporting nearly 8.9 inches of snow on Saturday. The heavy snowfall was the region’s 12th largest in one day since 1894, reports KOMONews.
One 90-year-old woman reported over the weekend that she walked six miles in the snow so she could get her COVID-19 vaccination.
Chicago, Illinois
The city of Chicago covered more than 18 inches of snow on Saturday. The city has experienced more snow over the past three weeks than it usually does in an entire winter, according to The Chicago Tribune.
