Phoenix officer shoots dead gunman with baby

A Phoenix police officer fatally shot a gunman who was holding his child in a dramatic encounter captured on camera footage.

The officer can be heard how the 37-year-old Paul Bolden pleads to kill the child before he was shot outside a hotel on January 9 in a video released by the Phoenix police station on Monday.

Police responded to the scene after Bolden’s girlfriend called 911 and reported that he had fired a gun while holding the child.

‘[He] just took my baby, he has a gun, he’s loaded, he took the baby. He’s trying to kill him, he’s shooting, he’s shooting, ‘the insane mother told 911 dispatchers, according to the sound of the call released Monday.

“He got my son, he stole my son.”

Before police arrived, Bolden detained a driver with a gun, according to another 911 caller.

When police arrived on the scene, Bolden refused to let them drop the gun, police said.

“He is currently being held hostage,” said one official, according to footage. “He has a gun, he’s already fired one gun,” the officer continued.

“We need more units to block all traffic.”

Bolden then aimed the gun at his child and others, police said, leading the officer with a gun to open fire.

The shot was fired from behind the door of a police sports utility vehicle, obstructing the officer’s body camera.

After shooting, an officer decides to run the crying baby off the ground.

“Hold on, hold on, hold on,” one officer could hear.

‘No, fk it, get the child! Get the kid! Answer another.

Bolden was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
