The Phillies have reached a $ 6 million deal with one-year free agent Archie Bradley, sources confirmed. The agreement depends on a physical matter.
Bradley, a 28-year-old right-hand man, began his career as an appetizer with the Diamondbacks in 2015 before joining in 2017 as their setup man. He hit well at the back of the Bullpen in Arizona until the 2020 deadline, when he was handed over to the Reds and posted a 1.17 ERA in the last month. The Phillies’ new coach, Caleb Cotham, came over from Cincinnati.
Bradley has had a 2.95 ERA in 221 appearances over the past four seasons, mostly as a setup. He also saved 18 games for the Diamondbacks in 2019 when he was forced to serve after Greg Holland’s struggles.
Bradley’s fast ball averaged 94.4 km / h last season. Historically, he was mostly a four-ball fast ball and a curveball, with a few sinkers and changes.
He is the third reliever the Phillies have added since the last week of December. The new president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski,’s first two acts were for left-hander Jose Alvarado of the Rays and right-hander Sam Coonrod of the Giants.
