Philadelphia police chase suspicious car through city streets

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Philadelphia police have arrested a suspect who led officers on a wild, fast chase through city streets to two car hijackings Friday night.

It happened at about 20:40 in Broad Street and Erielaan.

Police say a City View Pizza delivery driver along with his wife and two children, ages 4 and 2, made a delivery when the suspect got into the vehicle and left with the family inside.

Around 10:30 p.m., the family was found safe in 21st and Spring Garden streets, but police say the suspect hijacked another vehicle and led officers through the city.

Chopper 6 was on top when the suspicious officers tried to dodge. At one point during the chase, the suspicious officers led through the parking lot of the Philadelphia police headquarters in Race Street.

The suspect was arrested just after 11pm in Franklin Square Park. He was not identified.

No injuries were reported.
