Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey fined $ 50,000 for James Harden-related tweet

Philadelphia 76ers basketball president Daryl Morey has been fined $ 50,000 for violating the NBA’s antitrust policy, the league’s office announced Monday.

The fine is in response to a tweet on Dec. 20 about James Rockens superstar Houston Rockets. The tweet, which was deleted minutes later, celebrates the one-year anniversary of Harden breaking the Rockets record for franchise assistance.

Morey told league it was an unintentional message from an automated app, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Rockets CEO Tad Brown apparently responded to More’s tweet that night, tweeting an emoji with eyebrows and a hand rubbing his chin.

Morey was hired by the 76ers for less than two weeks this season after resigning as general manager of the Rockets, a position he held for 13 seasons.

Harden asked for a trade with the Rockets later in the off-season. According to sources, Harden originally told the team he wanted to trade to the Brooklyn Nets, but he has since expanded his list of preferred destinations to the 76ers and other potential contestants.
