FOX VALLEY, Wis (WBAY) – Tonight we learn more about how the provinces in the southern part of WBAY’s lookout roll will roll out the next phase of COVID-19 vaccinations. We told you earlier this week for the first time that the state paved the way for the vaccination of phase 1b on Monday 25 January for all people over 65.
It took just hours after the Fond du Lac County health department announced its plans to host its first COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the rural fair on January 27. The 1000 appointments available.
According to Kim Mueller, a health officer, it is planned that there will be 20 vaccines that will be there, and we plan that each individual will take about ten minutes, and we have 20 people who will get through every ten minutes. . ”
Mueller tells Action 2 News there are at least another 2,000 people who have called the health department who are now on a waiting list. Thomas Conley is one of the people, but instead of calling the health department, he just showed up to make an appointment. “They told me it might even be weeks, but they would call me when the next opening was and then set a time for me to come in,” says Conley.
With approximately 19,000 Fond du Lac County residents in the 65 or older demographic, Mueller hopes to add more clinics as doses of the vaccine become available.
The same goes for ThedaCare, which announced on Thursday that it will also start distributing the vaccine to the 1b group next week. “In ThedaCare, there are about 70,000 people over the age of 65,” says Dr. Mark Cockley, Chief Medical Officer.
In addition to its hospitals, vaccinations will also be offered at Encircle Health on the north side of Appleton, with plans to open additional clinics throughout the system.
Thedacare asks those who are eligible to register on their website, but says we will first try to vaccinate those at higher risk. Dr Cockley adds: ‘Do we look at those and how do we start taking those out and know that it could be 5000 on the list as a number? Knowing that we only have a thousand vaccines, how do we prioritize, how do we get people? If you’re in the group, it may be the first time you register, but how do we continue to expand it, then we can quickly immunize once we get the vaccine to push it through. ”
Both ThedaCare and Fond du Lac County tell us they will learn on Friday how many doses of the vaccine they will receive next week. As these numbers increase, both entities say they are going to be vaccinated to the point of moving faster through humans.
