PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (AP) – Prosecutors have charged a pharmacist in Wisconsin with allegedly spoiling COVID-19 vaccine with damage to the case.

Online court records show Steven Brandenburg was indicted in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Tuesday. Police arrested Brandenburg on Dec. 31 as part of an investigation into 57 spoiled scales containing Moderna vaccine at attorney Aurora Health in Grafton, about 20 miles north of Milwaukee.

Investigators believe Brandenburg deliberately took the bottles out of the fridge and did not replace them. Detectives wrote in the court report that Brandenburg is a licensed conspiracy theorist and is convinced that the vaccines will mutate people’s DNA.

The destroyed vials contain enough doses to vaccinate more than 500 people.

Brandenburg’s lawyer declined to comment.
