Peter Moore re-enters the video game industry and joins Unity

Peter Moore, the tattoo lover and former CEO of Sega, Microsoft and Electronic Arts, is starting up in the gambling industry again. Moore announced on Twitter on Wednesday that he joined engine manufacturer Unity Technologies to lead his sports and live entertainment division as senior vice president and general manager.

Moore, 66, has spent the past four years doing something of a sportsman’s dream job: CEO of Liverpool Football Club, his favorite team since his childhood. During his tenure, the Reds won the Premier League in the 2019-20 season, their first league championship in 30 years. The club also won the UEFA Champions League title in 2019 (and then the Super Cup), plus the FIFA Club World Cup in 2019.

Previously, Moore spent a decade as CEO at Electronic Arts (eventually as chief operating officer and president of EA Sports). In joining Unity, Moore will be reunited with John Riccitiello, who brought Moore to EA in 2007 when he was CEO. Riccitiello is currently Unity’s CEO.

Moore, who has been personally and for years known to video game fans, is also remembered as the president of Sega of America at the launch of the Dreamcast in 1999 (and, less fortunately, the man who had to announce the console’s untimely demise) .

After that, he joined Microsoft’s Xbox division, where he is best known as a guarantor. Halo 2a 9 November 2004, launch date with a tattoo on his right arm.

Although Moore still answers questions about the ink, its continued existence has not been confirmed.
