Personal information for 1.3 million users of the clubhouse apparently leaked online

Personal data for approximately 1.3 million users of the social audio app Clubhouse has been leaked online, Kubernuus report. A SQL database with user IDs, names, usernames, Twitter and Instagram handles and tracking counts has been posted on an online hacker forum. According to Kubernuus, it does not appear that sensitive user information such as credit card numbers have been leaked under the information. However, the information can be used in phishing attempts to get users to hand over the more sensitive information.

Last week, Kubernuus reported another data breach from a social platform: it found that personal data for 500 million LinkedIn users had been deleted and posted online. The company, which is owned by Microsoft, said that no private member account data from LinkedIn was included in the leak.

The news came a few days after it was discovered that personal information for about 533 million Facebook users had also been leaked online for free. The Facebook leak apparently contains users’ phone numbers, dates of birth, locations, email addresses and full names.

Clubhouse had a monster the first year – although it was only invited and only available on iOS devices, it saw over 10 million downloads. Twitter, LinkedIn, Discord, Spotify and Slack have all started or are working on competing social audio platforms, and Facebook apparently has one in the works as well.

Clubhouse did not immediately respond to a request for comment The edge on Sunday.
