Perdue ‘leans strongly’ on Warnock’s challenge in Georgia

‘He’s close to making a decision, and leans heavily on it, but will decide [the] next few weeks, ‘the adviser said.

Perdue starts with a solid amount in his campaign account: he had $ 5.7 million over weeks after the close, according to a filing with the FEC late last month.

Perdue lost by just over a percentage point in January after running nearly 2 points ahead of Ossoff in November. Ossoff has won a full term and will only be on the ballot again in 2026.

Warnock defeated Loeffler by 2 points and ran slightly ahead of Ossoff. The state will be a critical battlefield for Senate control in 2022: Democrats currently control the chamber 50-50, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking ties.

Former Representative Doug Collins (R-Ga.), Who is challenging Warnock, is also considering third place in the November special election.
